If you are a writer you know where this is going. If not, listen up.
As a writer I go through periods where I really want to write and I am on a roll; other times I get into a slump. I am in a slump right now but plan to pull myself out of it very soon.
You cannot force creativity but what many experts say what you can do is just write; go at it and something will eventually come to you. I find that this is the month many writers do that. It’s called NanoWriMo and it’s a collective effort by writers all over the world to commit to writing 1670 words a day; regardless of whether those words are good or will remain in the finished novel.
When I plan to start a new book, I join NanoWriMo to get myself geared up. But most of the time I am prepared with an outline, my research complete, and I am ready to tackle the pages.
Not this time.
I have so much research to do on this next book and I just cannot get myself in the mood to read all that I need to read. It’s another historical novel and this one is going to be a bit more complicated than As Gray As Black & White.
Add to that the fact that I am trying to revise another novel I’ve already written and I am in the middle of writing the sequel to The Hair Dare. So suffice it to say I have my hands full and my mind going in three different directions.
My solution will be to finish The Hare Dare 2 first; then work on the revisions, and lastly get back to my research. I plan to use the month of January to get back on track because there is too much going on this month and next.
Pray for me folks that I can not get distracted with unnecessary pursuits in the form on social media and shopping. LOL.
Talk to you soon.
