Now that book one of my Wig Maker Mystery series is written and in the hands of my street team, I am now working on book 2. The first book is called Lethal Lace Front. But I never introduced you to my protagonist (MC) Dee Alexander.
Dee is a former TV reporter who left the business and left DC to move to a small town in North Carolina. To earn a living, she makes custom wigs, and she also reviews synthetic wigs on her YouTube channel for sponsors.
Dee is in her mid-50s (which was a conscious choice because there are not many middle-aged sleuths who are African American). She has a grown daughter who lives with her while attending community college. Pria helps Dee make the wigs, too.
Dee has a best friend, Ruby Jenkins, who owns a beauty supply store and is a native southerner. The two of them may seem like fire and water, but their personalities work well together, and the banter makes the story fun, aside from the mystery.
There are other characters, like Godfrey Nash, the retired detective, and Pearl Nash, his nosy aunt.
But the story revolves around Dee and how she gets pulled into various murder investigations.
I am having a great time writing it and hope you enjoy reading the series. As soon as the first book releases, I will be offering some giveaways and will be requesting your involvement, such as naming characters and choosing covers.
