Prepping for a Book Fest

Ever since I was accepted to the Decatur Book Festival in Georgia I’ve been stressing! That festival is a HUGE deal and its a tradition in the Atlanta area. Last year they did not have it so this year its going to be big.

There will be traditional authors, indie authors, book sellers and book lovers milling around the square, not to mention food trucks and all that stuff.

Since this is such a big deal the last thing I want is to be an indie author siting at a plain table with a stack of books looking amateur so I’ve been planning my attack! LOL

In my Clubhouse author group some of them advised to get a backdrop for your tent if its big enough. Others suggested dressing up like a character in your book or in attire that harkens back to the era of your book. I also came up with a few on my own.

I happen to be friends with a trad author who is working on a new book so he agreed to share the table with me! His wife just released a new book too so I told him to bring her along. I need name recognition near me to attract the readers.

I also plan to dress up my table with candy and wrapped books, signs donning QR codes and the like. My table will be colorful and inviting, and of course my books will be center stage.

It’s a lot of time and effort to put into a one-day event but I’m looking forward to meeting readers, writers and hobnobbing with a few book sellers who might want to carry my novels.

I intent to take lots of photos and videos of the event and will bring them to this site for you to enjoy!
