Sticktuitiveness

Some will tell you, and rightly so, that this is not a real word, that’s because it’s not spelled this way. But it is a real condition (and I prefer this spelling). People who have it usually show signs of endurance, patience and the occasional *sigh*.

Those who have sticktuitiveness are great role models for writers. Why? Because they can show you that the glass is not half empty, the finish line is not miles away, and that by golly you are gonna get that book deal, that agent, that sale (fill in the blank with the object of your current obsession)

I for one am not so good at being sticktuitive. I hate to wait…on anything. I am very impatient and I generally feel skeptical because to me, it’s real.

Maybe that’s why I am in and out of this writing game so often: I write a manuscript, I send it out, crickets, I move on to something else. I come back, I write another manuscript, I send it out, crickets, I move on again. This cycle has been going on since 2013 and at this point I believe I have lost faith in sticktuitive-ism.

But alas, I come back and wash, rinse, repeat. Maybe that is the life of a writer..or at least this one.

Enjoy the day!
