Pre-Nano Jitters

Yes, I am having them. I actually shared a few pages of the book I intend to create next month with an agent and she liked it! No pressure, right? But as you know, I have a plan and I intend to carry it out. The thing is, November’s end will only yield a first draft — NO book is every ready right after Nano. So I am going to just fasten my seatbelt and enjoy the ride!

Checking my list, twice…

I have my character interviews completed and feel I now know the cast. I have my scenes and sequels planned so that I have a starting point for each one — I intend to pants as much as possible within those boundaries to see where the story leads me. I’ve conducted an interview with a grocery store manager since that is the place where my MC works — I needed to know what 16 year olds do on the daily. I also gathered my terms for the pandemic since my book takes place right now. I intend to use it as one of the antagonists that plague my MC (and everyone else for that matter). That part will be challenging but if done properly it will add to the intrigue and the obstacles.

I have just 10 days before the writing begins and my story takes on a life of its own. Yes, I am SO excited, and jittery, but that is the beauty of writing, isn’t it?

I will have ‘buddies’ to support me and whom I can support – in fact, an old friend has decided to take this journey with me so I am super excited about having him along for the ride.

Well, that’s all for now. If you are also taking on the NanoWriMo challenge, let me know in the comments and see you on other side of November!
